I looked briefly on github about establishing a github handle/username,
and it looks as if that is a side effect of setting up a github repository.
Is that correct?  It seems as though establishing identity should be a 
separate step.

I'm also drafting a note containing what I wish I had known about 
switches when I started using one.  I'm currently at the "collect 
information" stage; there will be a complete rewrite for organisation 
and style later.

When there's something to comment on, I'll post about it on a mailing 
list.  Which one would be appropriate?
