Thanks for noting it. It became straightforward in the last release,
before that, it was only easy.

This is a good way for programmers who are only interested in
the packages provided in these frameworks. If you need additional
gtk+/gnome libraries, an alternative is to use MacPorts to install
the quartz variant of gtk+. I usually go back to the InkScape
help page for Mac OS X compilation when I forget how to do it:
