Does anyone have a solution for openin PDF 1.5+ files ?

Hello all,

I am regularly encountering problems due to PDF::API2 not being
able to import PDF 1.5+ files.  The operation results in a 
'malformed xref' error.

There is some discussion of the problem at:

and the cause appears to be that the xref table has become
a stream in PDF 1.5 and higher.

Does anyone have a solution for this ?
