Yes, PDF::API2 uses Compress::Zlib which uses libcompress-zlib-perl  It 
should have been installed if you used cpan to install PDF::API2.  If 
you installed it by hand, see the README file for a list of dependencies.

libcompress-zlib-perl needs to be compile, so make sure you have a C 
compiler and make.
