Build process

Hi all,

I don't really know much about Smalltalk and its culture... and after reading through the mailing list and looking at the source code, I see that I know very little about VMs, too -- I know how to program in C and C++, though 8-)

The "VM syllabus" posting was a good starting point for me, something similar can be found here:

Also, I was just starting to learn Perl, and decided to write a script to directly include the headers in each source file as an exercise. I used the two database file in /vm/deps, but it turned out that they are complete (that is, the resulting source files wouldn't build). I manually resolved the compliation errors (I couldn't stop myself) and created a database file with the new include requirements. Finally, it built. I'll just provide the script "as is" (attachment), hope that at least the additional include database are of some use. The only test so far was to build and run the debug version...

Something different: there is a makefile in /vm/prims that builds prims.src. It makes use of "primdeffilter", and a comment says "remember to run the primitive generator". Is there any information available about this? (and then there is also a prims.inc...)
