But software is not produced, it is designed. Once it is designed it's
just information that doesn't require any work to copy, and there is
no equivalent of "physical control".

Artificial limits like copyright might be necessary as a compromise,
because the ideal solution is difficult to identify and probably even
more to put in place, but they still don't make sense and will be
bypassed.
