These are the "chained in a cubicle writing the same boring software over and over" I was talking about. :)  Every actor that's in a cheesy restaurant is there because they dream of some day being the next big name on the big screen.  Every (good) college football player puts his body on the line game after game with the hope of making it in the NFL.  I like that programmers can have this kind of dream of making it big too.

There are ways.  You can even become extremely wealthy with free software as Google has.  But I don't think nearly as many people will make it big the way they did, as can by simply making a nice product and selling it.

And besides, why restrict yourself to only doing the things listed on that site to make money?  There is nothing wrong with writing and selling proprietary software.
