Re: 9.0 refusing to run on Ubuntu

I think it would be much less crazy to assume VisualWorks would support non-bitmap fonts out of the box in 2022 on Linux. Why is XFT not the default and bitmap fonts an option? The whole font-system is still implemented as if True-Type fonts were an exception and bitmap fonts were the norm.

The XFT stuff works, but you have to load it *before* you have a problem. ;)
