Sorry Mark - should have replied to this long ago.

Looks like this is a defect - please raise an issue assigned to the
model element property panels sub-component.

The purpose of template parameters are like generics in Java - so
adding a text description is not the purpose.

What you are looking for sounds more like tagged values.
