Hi Dmitry,

Sure we'd love to see your patches.  You may want to start by drafting
your own API proposal, for any new externally accessible functions (or
changes to existing ones).  The email link you reference seems like an
excellent point to start from; you may be able to just update that
proposal and repost it for further comment.  Make sure to review the
commentary the old proposal already received.

Also, check to see if Alp Toker posted a branch or partial
implementation of the feature, as that could save you some
work.
