Sure! I'd replace the current banner with a single big image.. eg with 
GNUstep logo, cake and 35 candles or somethign similar. If someone wants

OSNews? slashdot? Ars Technica?

TO be honest, I don't follow much media anymore given the bias and 
relative low quality, so at the same time I'm not up to date which are 
the best ones to show, especially thinking about our typical audience.

I only know of a "release" letter, but I would not rush for a release on 
the exact date.

Me neither, short time frame, we are working on great stuff and I'd 
prefer not to disrupt it.

I think base is more or less releasable, but gui is influx and I noticed 
recently issues. We could still decide to keep all the major stuff in a 
branch and decide for a release in some months and still call it 
"anniversary release".
It would be nice to release other stuff together... e.g. Addresses, 
GWorkspace andother things that were touched  recently
