Dear =E2=80=99Steppers,

First of all, thank you to everyone who took the time to respond!

It seems there isn=E2=80=99t just one reason for not attending the =
meeting, but rather many different ones. What I=E2=80=99ve noticed, =
however, is that for some, the meeting apparently brings back traumatic =
memories of meetings at work. That=E2=80=99s definitely not the =
intention - the monthly GNUstep meeting is meant to be a space for =
informal exchange and open discussion, a chance to catch up and share =
ideas with one another. For my part, I=E2=80=99m always very interested =
in hearing what others are currently working on. I also believe that =
this more direct form of communication makes it easier to clear up =
misunderstandings that can arise in written communication on the mailing =
list - for example, due to the lack of tone, intonation, and voice. A =
frank conversation can sometimes work wonders!

Now for the second most important reason: the timing and the schedule. =
We=E2=80=99re scattered all over the world - North America, Europe, =
Australia - each in our own time zone. And most of us have jobs that =
keep us busy during the week. That=E2=80=99s why the meeting was =
scheduled for a Saturday (the second Saturday of the month), so that the =
meeting wouldn=E2=80=99t conflict with work. At least, that was the =
intention. But if a majority now says they prefer a meeting on weekdays =
(Monday through Friday), we should of course change that. Keep in mind, =
however, that the end of the workday in Europe coincides with working =
hours in America, and the same is true between America and Australia =
(which would then mean after midnight for Europe).

Here=E2=80=99s what I suggest: it would be best if everyone could reply =
to this email with their preferred days for the meeting, along with the =
time (please use GMT!). We=E2=80=99ll figure out a compromise from =
there.

As for the meeting=E2=80=99s duration of about three hours, just to =
clarify: this is meant to be a time frame during which you can drop by. =
I don=E2=80=99t expect anyone (except maybe Greg) to be present for the =
entire three hours. There=E2=80=99s no obligation here.

I=E2=80=99ll start by listing the times that work for me:

Friday, Saturday, Sunday: 4:00 PM =E2=80=93 8:00 PM GMT

Best regards,

    Lars
