Hi.

I'm not sure if there's a list anywhere of all the changes from 1.8, but the 
download page has a short list of differences, presumably from the previous 
release.

Changes and Bugfixes 
  * Fixed bugs and improved performance of the Capture extension 
  * "Generic Hardware" device returns more accurate 'Buffers Processed' count 
  * Various performance improvements in "Generic Hardware" and "Generic

Upgrading is just a DLL exchange, yes. New DLLs are put in place of the old 
ones, and everything should continue to work as-is.
