Hi,
the vocal processes are started by the vocald Perl-script, which also 
does some basic
management.
The processes communicate:
by UDP+SIP (all inter-marhal, marshal-fs, marshal-rs traffic, ...)
my TCP (all traffic involving the database (ps)

vocal has some documents, look into the www.vovida.org server to find
