Because SWF is hopelessly tied to the windows platform, which is why you 
need WINE to run the Mono version on Linux. If you are really intent on 
having a portable API, you would do better to wrap SWF with the wx.NET 
API, rather than the other way around.

I would *love* to have a thin, portable API over the native widgets. 
SharpWT is the closest to that ideal, but last I checked it didn't have 
a lot of momentum (over a year since the last stable release).
