Checkout the WIN-VSNET README. They wrap the configure *and* build of both
wx.Widgets *and* wx.NET for a typical configuration (for example, building
the XRC contrib add-in).

I plan on doing the same for both Linux and MacOS.

They really go together. And the root will get just as cluttered with a
bunch of these:

   + Makefile.vc, Makefile.mac, Makefile.linux
   + Defs.vc, Defs.mac, Defs.linux
   + Anything else that is platform config/build specific. For example,
     I can move that Bin/MAKE-MAC-BUNDLES script.

I think my EasyBuild sub-dir would make everything nice and tidy with your
top-level README.txt pointing the user to these. But the key here is these
are optional. Power developers can do their own thing. But I find the whole
build process has far too many steps for common configurations.
