He is using ubuntu as I do.

Well, I've solved the problem. It was indeed a missing shared library.
(Thanks Mike). In this case: libtiff.so.3

To solve the problem you have to

sudo ln -s /usr/lib/libtiff.so.4 /usr/lib/libtiff.so.3
