With .com and .biz and all the others, this is just what we need to obfuscate the Internet even more for the average user. I think it's madness (like the .xxx domain which will yield one company millions). It's also a way for big corporates to separate themselves from startups and smaller companies (who can't afford the large fee), which is not good for competition and innovation. For a non-profit group (ICANN) they must certainly have many corporates lobbying them ... - this is another gold mine for doing practically nothing (besides a little admin and paying lawyers). I just hope Google searches continue to make this irrelevant and a waste of time/money. Cheers, Ashley.
