Just catching up on list reading and curious about this thread. Did
any updates after Firefox 4.01 help resolve any of these issues? Does
starting the browser in 32-bit instead of 64-bit help?

I have a couple of schools that use a lot of Firefox and Safari
plugins that only run in 32-bit mode. So I instruct the users to
restart their browser in 32-bit if they start to see problems web page
loading etc.
