iPhone SDK compat with Snow Leopard

Is there a better list for iPhone developer questions?

Can I install XCode3.2.1 on top of XCode3.1.4 (with iPhone SDK)?
Is it an update or is doing this going to screwup my ability to do iPhone app development?

Background:
I have the iPhone SDK which installed at /XCode3.1.4 and not /Developer
My XCode in /Developer was fairly old, and I assumed that 3.1.4 with iPhone SDK was better.
Today I tried to update a Java application under SnowLeopard and found that XCode crashed a bunch.
With a little investigation I find that SL requires XCode 3.2.1 which is available on developer connection.

The 3.2.1 about doc says absolutely nothing about iPhone SDK, and it's a lot smaller than the iPhoneSDK.
So, I'm assuming at the minimum I need to update the 3.1.4 installation with the 3.2.1 installer.
Or, do I have to install 3.2.1 in /Developer and have two separate copies?
