Static: steady-state (or long-term) response with no inertial or time-dependent effects (solved using [K]{u}={F}, unless a material nonlinearity (e...g, hyperelasticity or plasticity) is present, in which case the tangent stiffness and incremental displacement and load vectors are used – [Kt]{du}={dF}).
Quasi-static: Time-dependent response with no inertial effects. Time-dependency is in the form of creep or viscoelastic response (solved using [Kt]{du} = {dF}).
Dynamic: Time-dependent response with inertial effects. Solved using [M]{a} + [C]{v} + [K]{u} = {F}, if implicit time integration is used, or {a} = [M]^-1 {F}, if explicit time integration is used. In your case, you’re almost certainly using Abaqus/Explicit.
Please refer to the Abaqus Theory Manual, or virtually any good finite element textbook for further information.

Subject: [EXTERNAL] [Abaqus] Static vs dynamic
Hi all,
I am writting a thesis on Explosive metal forming and therefore I am doing simulations on Abaqus,
I was wondering if you could help me understand the differences between static, quasi static and dynamic analysis on abaqus.
Thanks a lot,
Emmanuel
