I never found documentation on this matter. Espen derived our
solution: use the page directory address; this gives a unique ID for
every address space, with no effort. And it lets you reverse map the
VSID to a page directory.

Hi,

after reading a lot in the PowerPC Programming Environments Manual to
understand virtual addressing on PowerPC, I haven't found an answer
to how VSIDs are determined/calculated on 32bit processors.

So, how do I determine/calculate this 24bit value for each of the 16
segment registers? Or are the VSIDs fixed on 32bit processors and I
don't need to do anything?

Can someone give me a pointer or a short explanation?

Thanks,

Matthias.
