As long as your devices are I2CS you can link them to the new interface as
long as the PLM knows the destination Insteon ID.

The procedure for this is basically you basically just go through every
device in MisterHouse and pick the "Link to Interface" option. Then once
that is done you force an all link scan, then you remove orphan links
(Which will remove the old PLM from the devices databases) and then a sync
all links to make sure everything is consistent. This works on most devices
but I've had issues with KPLs, that required a factory reset instead.
Battery devices (of which I have none) are a bit trickier.

The USB version of the PLM just has a FTDI-esque USB to serial adapter
inside of it, so it still shows up as a COM device.

Personally I use Linux'es serial device "by-id" so that it doesn't matter
what Virtual COM port it appears to be on:

Insteon_PLM_serial_port =
/dev/serial/by-id/usb-FTDI_FT232R_USB_UART_AK05Z8I2-if00-port0 (you can see
the FTDI's converter serial is in the name so it will never change for that
specific device)
