I've used these startech extenders in various situations and they work well
enough for their usecase:

However given the cost, why not just buy a Raspberry Pi 3/4 and put that
with the PLM? It's got wifi, or you can use your current CAT5 to get it
wired network. It also has the benefit of very little power consumption.
