Thanks for the update Tom.  Please send more info if you do ever get the 
Globe dimmer (or any other globe things for that matter) working.  I had 
been tempted to buy one of those but wasn't confident I could get it 
reflashed.

I don't know why so many companies are reluctant to make their stuff 
easy to modify.  I guess it is support requests (ex: warranty returns 
after people bust things) or maybe it's something their lawyers said.  
Unfortunate either way.
