I too noticed that there seem to be few caddx users in our group now. I
recently modified some of the code to add a few extra features. I
understand it a little better than I used to and perhaps I can help. Feel
free to email me directly.

How are you connected to the panel? Could it be the serial interface? Have
you verified the serial port speed? What changed since the Ubuntu laptop
was working? It seems unlikely that a HD would fail and the serial
interface to the panel failed at the same time.
