Thanks for the response, Giles. Two items ...

1) I'd be interested in what you mean by "overloading objects from 
external files". Are you just changing the object in ordinary user code 
after the fact, or do you have a technique I'm not aware of?

2) I'm not recommending any of us writing any code. If you look in 
bin/my, you'll find the subroutine "convert_table_files" which converts 
read_table_A files to xml, and in the beginning of subroutine 
read_table_files you'll see it's detecting which kind of file it has and 
interpreting it accordingly. It appears like all the work is done. I was 
just wondering if a lot of other people were using xml files, or if 
these are the leftovers from some abandoned project.
