sounds in kubuntu

Hello, Workrave is not playing sounds in Kubuntu. This seems to be an unusual problem because I've only found one other report of it, and the proposed solution was, "Install Mepis." Basically, sound is working: music plays, YouTube works and Workrave's wav files will play in Amarok, but Workrave itself will not play the wav files during breaks or in the preferences box.
