I don't know what is causing Workrave to spontaneously switch.

I had a problem where I would sometimes switch to suspended mode by
hand and forget to switch back.

I tried writing a script to automatically switch back after a certain
amount of time, but I ran into problems. See earlier discussion on
this mailing list if you are interested.

On Linux, you can run a command like this to inspect the current mode:

  gconftool-2 --get /apps/workrave/gui/operation-mode

I currently use this in a script that runs periodically and if the
Workrave mode remains suspended for too long I start popping up
warning windows. I don't know exactly how you would do it but I guess
inspecting the registry might be useful to do something similar on
Windows. You could at least use this to try to find out when the bug
is happening, which could help in determining the cause of the bug.

I hope this message is somehow helpful.
