USB to Serial cables

Your FAQ's refer to "USB to Serial cables". I have USB "data" cables for my two phones but they plug into a USB port, not the serial port. Will these not work? Also, I am unable to find a "LG CDMA USB Modem driver" for a VX5300. When I Google this, I get a number of hits but all take me to the LG website and they do not list a driver. Any suggestions?
