I wouldn't mind contributing, but I am a snmp-novice. My initial thought
is to use net-snmp (open source and pretty standard on
Linux-distributions). I guess the best place to start would be adding
support for simple snmp-get-requests in the bearerbox.

I would love to hear from anybody with experience programming
snmp-clients.
