Which is a motivation for proposing @aria-describedat - if people are  
prepared to do it, I offered to make the spec work happen. It *is* pretty  
much the same thing, but sometimes even a stupid change makes a  
difference, and really, getting the functionality is far more interesting  
than being 'right' but not having anything useful to show for it...
