Yeah I wanted to write some of this but wasn't using a real keyboard. You
are exactly right to draw attention to the chicken and egg problem, and my
comment about popular addons was not meant to be specific to longdesc or
describedat.

All, I've mostly avoided the longdesc debate since there are so many other
things on our plates that are worthwhile and easier to move forward. I
looked at bug 1996 years ago. I'd say whatever we do, we need to avoid
repeating the long history of debate. All that's really left is mockups,
code, or addons.

Mozilla Firefox is a community run project and I suspect I would consider
most of the people on this list part of the community. Some discussion of
influence is here: http://www.mozilla.org/about/roles.html  That page links
to module owners etc.
