Hi, I hit the same problem when doing very similar experiment, i.e., build Mozilla on GTK2 without X. I think many stuffs in the gfx/x11shared and widget/src/gtk (and gtk2) needed to be re-written and those X fonts can be replaced by FreeType2 and Pango. Not sure whether this is useful information.
