Check in users->your home directory->library->preferences folder. Another suggestion: the file preferences.js located in your user profile may have become corrupted. Have you got a recent backed up copy of your profile--you should if you do not. Try using the backed up profile and see if the issue goes away. --One day you will kick yourself if you do not have a recently backed up profile.
