Two issues here:

1.  The STIX fonts (beta only so far, I believe) are not currently
    available.

2.  FF2 is said to be going out of support very soon.

Beyond that in FF3 with STIX-beta I have the impression that normal
font weights are too light.  I think also that I have seen issues
about microspacing.  Unfortunately, I don't have time now to chase
these down.

Someone who is usually on top of these issues has suggested to me
that I should be using the Wolfram "Math" series with FF3.

I would find it helpful if someone who is up to speed with font issues
would speak to whether the Wolfram series is robust with FF3.  Ditto
for Design Science's "mathtype" series.  (I believe the previously
distributed Bakoma truetype "TeX" fonts that worked with FF2 should
not be used with FF3.)

I think that normal consumers of math on the web cannot be expected to
track down and install special fonts.  What is going to be done about
that?
