...Might I suggest filing a Bug in bugzilla 
(https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/ ) to port this functionality back to NSPR.

I should warn/caution you though, to be sure Yahoo! allows you to 
back-port this, as depending on if it was you who wrote the code, and 
terms under your employment at Yahoo, you might not technically be allowed.
