The Mozilla code knows nothing about it, it's entirely within in the KAI 
library.

I'm pretty sure users of the KAI library don't have the option of 
choosing.  It's up to the library itself, and/or whatever override the 
user specifies.  I've suggested to KO previously that the current 
defaults aren't good, but he seemed to be holding out hope that the 
UniAud32 interface would be fixed.
