Do messages get saved in Sent? > She have tried to change the profile settings a couple of times, but the ONLY settings that can be changed is what sound the mailer should play when receiving a mail. She just went through the Settings notebook, left it unchanged and tried the Save button - no yoy, but onlu button that worked was the Cancel button :-( So the current profile is definitely sick and needs to be migrated to a new profile. Also the Adres book must be migrated and the Mail&Newsgroups must migrated so they can live on the r::\mozilla.org\mozilla cat/file structure. How sick this old profile is, when an email is received from ginza.se (a company that sells amongst other things music on CD and vinyl and retro-line products), up comes a notice that some images are blocked so She has to manually unblock this - before it didn't trew up this message. So the old profile lies in the Death's bounds (Jesu lagt in der Todesbanden, a short organ chorale by none other than J.S. Bach).
