SIMPLE editor for mail&news ???

hi All,

Adding and deleting mailaccounts and/or newsgroups in Mozilla 1.1 is a 
crime (at least for me): after removing and adding a new one, everything 
gets mixed up.
As I believe all the settings are stored in prefs.js/user.js.

Does anyone have a simple editor, where you can change these settings in 
a very simple way ??

If I knew enough of the contents of these files, I guess I could make 
such a program in a few hours.
But I also guess (I hope), someone has done that already !?
