So it sounds to me that you do have the quicktime plugin working on your 
computer for your browser, if you enter the url of a .mp3 and it tries 
to play it.   ISSUE 1 solved.  Some websites are not written correctly 
to recognize the Mozilla Browser, contact the webmaster to correct the 
problem.

When you paste a link into your browser it thinks that you want to 
either go to that page or play that file in the case of .mp3 and opens 
the appropriate Helper Object, in this case QT, QT sometimes doesn't 
like to relenquish control of certain extensions, I think you have to go 
into quicktime and tell it you don't want it to play .mp3, and also tell 
you .mp3 player that you want it to be default for all .mp3 files.

How to solve issue 2, instead of entering the name of the file you want 
to download, go up a level to its' parent folder, this should give you a 
list of .mp3 you can right click on and "Save Target As", the key is the 
file folder not the file itself.
