Re: Mozilla, cups, xprint, KDE/kprinter woes

Something you might want to try is setting your default printer name to 
the PostScript printer in the environment -- export LPDEST=psprinter (or 
whatever you've named it. If you do that in /etc/profile, every user 
will have that printer as the default if they do, say, "lp file" or "lpr 
file." Mozilla will pick up on that, too. Another thing you can do is 
add either "-d printername" or "-P printername" in the Printer 
Properties window (that's not as good as setting LPDEST system-wide). 
Don't forget that you have to log off and back on for settings in 
/etc/profile to take effect.

That may take care of some of your difficulties (I have two printers at 
home and twenty at work configured like this -- individual users have a 
default printer set in their .profile -- and everybody seems to be happy).
