Thanks for your suggestions. Unfortunately, there is still no joy in Mudville. There is no proxy connection and nothing was checked on in that regard. Second, changing the HTTP settings to 1.0 from 1.1 made no difference. Neither did changing the "keep alive" setting fix anything. Third, moved the .mozilla profile directory to "mozilla-old" and let Mozilla start fresh with the default settings. It =still= brings up the wrong web page when this one URL is entered. Fortunately, it isn't much of a problem other than the annoyance of having something that isn't working as it should. So, no big deal, but if you have anymore ideas they'd be welcomed.
