Fedora Core 3 uses Gnome2 and the MetaCity window manager is one of the worst 
created the recent years. You will need to use another window manager, but 
that is easier said than done, you can try out the following way, but won't 
pull your hair if it don't want to work

Things was a lot better when RedHat used Gnome.


I wish you a lot better luck with xfce (IMHO it's sad it's following the 
Gnome2 HIG).
