redrawing issues on unix while embedding firefox!!

Hi All,
 
I have embedded firefox 1.0 into my application on windows and on Unix.
The windows application handles all the events and can redraw the
firefox chrome and the whole window when a modal window is opened over
the window and you try to close it. 
While on Unix machine it is doesn't redraw after the modal window is
closed. it leaves a print back on the screen.
 
I suppose the event handling in unix and windows is entirely different
and hence the redrawing problems are occurring but i dont have a clue
where to start with and where to see and send an event for redrawing if
such a scenario is happening.
 
any help or pointers are thoroughly appreciated.
