Reading a Mail List with Thunderbird

I receive a mail list that shows up in Thunderbird as a list of 
attachments -- .eml files -- and I can't read the bloody things unless I 
save them off somewhere and open each one individually (a real pain in 
the butt, by the way).

With Mozilla, this list shows up as the text, with the attachment names 
in a small window out of the way.

Is there a magic incantation (or extension) that will do what Mozilla 
does for Thunderbird so I can just read the messages without having to 
fool around with saving and opening separately?
