File Open dialog

What happened to the file open dialog in 1.5? It worked great in 1.0.7. I
have a directory that contains 4460 files. The dialog in 1.0.7 handled that
directory just fine. Now, in 1.5, the dialog just hangs when I try to open
that directory.
