Have you installed the
 2004-07-07-release_009_001 Solaris package GISWxprintglue
  (contains only config data and reuses Solaris's native Xprint server)

on you SPARC server ?

This used to bee nesseary to get any joy  out of printig from Mozilla
on Sol9.
