That process is documented, the important point is to run
"checksetup.pl". That will handle the upgrade in-place and should
succeed most likely, things heavily depend on which extensions you
use, if you have customized things on your own etc.

Bugzilla contains a file "localconfig" in its root containing the
password it uses itself to access its own database. That should be
enough for your dumps. Otherwise simply google how to set a new root
password for MySQL, there's surely something available.
