Happy to help.  You didn't mention the status of your lost bookmarks. 
However, one thing occurred to me.  Though I rarely use Internet 
Explorer I do periodically clear my IE Favorites and then import my 
Mozilla bookmarks so they're there in IE if I need them.  In the case of 
a lost Mozilla bookmarks file you could, if you have done an import in 
IE in the recent past, export them back to Mozilla.
